Does BarcodeMan work with Shopify POS?
Yes. BarcodeMan creates barcode labels that can be scanned by any barcode scanner, including those used with Shopify POS.
Important: Make sure you assign values to the Barcode field (not SKU), because Shopify POS reads the Barcode field when scanning.
Steps:
In BarcodeMan, go to Product Labels
Select your products
Click Assign... → Field: barcode → Choose 13-digit number
Print your labels with barcode
Scan with your Shopify POS barcode scanner
Can I print labels from orders (not just products)?
Yes. Use Address Labels for shipping/order data, or use Product Labels and select products from a specific order.
Can I print barcodes without making labels?
BarcodeMan generates barcodes as part of labels. To get just a barcode image, create a template with only a barcode element and minimal margins.
Does this app generate real UPC/EAN/GTIN codes?
No. The numbers BarcodeMan generates are random and for internal use only. To sell on Amazon, Walmart, or Google Shopping, you need to purchase real GTINs from GS1. See our Barcode Format Selection Guide for more details.
Printing
How do I print after I preview?
After generating labels, BarcodeMan opens a PDF. Use your browser's print function (Ctrl+P / Cmd+P) or the print button in the PDF viewer.
Can I download the labels as a PDF file?
Yes. In BarcodeMan Settings, turn on the Download option instead of Print. The PDF will be saved to your computer.
Why is my printer printing blank labels?
Common causes:
Browser pop-up blocker is preventing the PDF from opening — go to Settings and enable "Ignore browser pop-ups blocker"
No barcode data — make sure your products have values in the Barcode or SKU field
Price tags / small labels: Roll labels (e.g., DYMO 30336 at 57mm × 32mm)
Product labels with details: Sheet labels (e.g., Avery 5160 at 66mm × 25.4mm on Letter paper)
Shipping labels: Large roll labels (e.g., 4" × 6" on DYMO 4XL)
Does BarcodeMan remember my last used settings?
Yes. BarcodeMan remembers your last selected template and printer settings per label type (Product Label and Address Label). When you return, it pre-selects the same template you used last time.
Barcodes & SKUs
What's the difference between SKU and Barcode?
SKU (Stock Keeping Unit): An internal code you create for inventory management
Barcode: A scannable code used at checkout or for tracking
In Shopify, these are two separate fields on each product variant.
How do I assign barcodes to my products?
Go to Product Labels page
Select your products
Click Assign... → Choose barcode → Select 13-digit or 8-digit
Click Update
The values will be written to your Shopify products automatically.
How do I use my own SKU numbers as barcodes?
In the Assign dialog, choose Sync with SKU. This copies your existing SKU values into the Barcode field.
Several products have the same barcode — how do I fix this?
Each product variant should have a unique barcode. To fix:
Go to Shopify Admin → Products
Find the products with duplicate barcodes
Clear the barcode values
In BarcodeMan, use Assign to generate new unique values
Templates
Can I duplicate a template?
Currently, there is no built-in duplicate button. To copy a template:
Create a new template with the same dimensions
Recreate the elements manually
How do I change the barcode format on my template?
Open the template editor
Click on the barcode element
In the properties panel, change the Barcode Format dropdown (e.g., from EAN-13 to CODE128)
Can I use Avery labels?
Yes. When creating a template, set the paper size and label dimensions to match your Avery model. See our Sheet Label Template guide for setup steps.
Billing
How do I cancel or downgrade my plan?
You can manage your subscription from the BarcodeMan Settings page or through your Shopify/Wix app management page.
What counts as a "label" in my usage quota?
Each label generated counts as one unit, regardless of whether you actually print it.
